GéoTraC develops geoelectric monitoring as an environmental monitoring tool. This project focuses on tracking the dynamic and reactive processes within the critical carbonate zone, which is subject to global changes. GéoTraC relies on micro-scale investigations to model reactive transport and multiphase flow. Our approach aims to understand the microscopic couplings underlying the measured signals. This scale-up will help overcome challenges in interpreting geoelectric signals measured at instrumented sites during monitoring of processes in the carbonate critical zone. The implementation of our project combines the development of innovative miniaturized geophysical sensors with high-resolution imaging techniques. Our project will also utilize reactive transport and petrophysical modeling to improve the understanding of geoelectric measurements for their application in hydrogeology and geochemistry.
