Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Muqeet Iqbal specializes in coupled experimental and modeling investigations of reactive transport processes. He obtained his PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences, with a research focus on emerging contaminants, particularly rare earth elements, and their behavior in environmental systems. His work focuses on fluid–solid interactions, surface reactions, and particle-mediated transport processes across scales, from molecular interactions and pore-scale mechanisms to macroscopic system behavior. He applies experimental and modeling approaches to investigate how these processes influence the mobility and transformation of elements in environmental systems. Notably, his expertise includes geochemical modeling using PHREEQC, batch and column experiments, and X-ray micro-CT imaging. His research has strong implications for groundwater remediation and subsurface energy production, including geothermal and hydrogen systems.
