I'm a structural geologist interested in the processes that govern rock deformation and their impact on lithospheric rheology. I studied my bachelor's in geological engineering and a master's in Earth Sciences at the National University of Mexico, where I participated in different research projects focused on characterizing the structural, stratigraphic, and magmatic evolution of southernmost Mexico.
Currently, I'm a PhD student at the University of Orléans. My current project aims to understand the complex interaction between micas and quartz during deformation at mid-crustal conditions to better understand the deformation mechanisms operating in polymineralic rocks. To do so, I perform deformation experiments in a Griggs-type press on mica-quartz aggregates and characterize the microstructure of the post-mortem samples using techniques such as digital image analysis, scanning electron microscopy, hyperspectral cathodoluminescence, electron backscatter diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy.
I have experience as a teaching assistant in the courses of structural geology, physical geology, field geology, and metamorphic petrology, and I have participated as a consultant in engineering projects focused on the structural characterization of underground water reservoirs.
