Research visit of Alessio Matzedda (University of Pavia)

We are welcoming Alessio Matzedda, a second-year Master’s student from the University of Pavia (Italy), who is carrying out a scientific visit through the European Erasmus+ Traineeship program as part of a collaborative project between ISTO (R. Coltat), the University of Genoa (C. Ferrando), and the University of Pavia (V. Basch, A. Sanfilippo). Alessio is working on oceanic lithosphere rocks drilled at the Atlantis Massif on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge during the IODP Expedition 399. He studies sulfides formed at the interface between magmatic veins and serpentinites using petrographic and geochemical techniques. He will be at ISTO from March 18 to May 19, 2026.
