The project led by Bruno has been funded by the ANR (07/2025). This project involves 10 other scientists from ISTO. As its acronym suggests, the project focuses on bubbles in magmas: many silicic/felsic magmas already get saturated in volatiles (i.e. have bubbles) while stored in their upper crustal reservoir, but how much of these bubbles are in there prior to eruption is an open question. This project explores a new way to restore that fundamental quantity. Knowing the amount and composition of gas/bubbles in felsic reservoirs, the key objective of REGASMAGMA, is critical for several reasons: it strongly influences emitted gas composition, eruptive style, and could be an eruption trigger. Bravo Bruno!
