Bence Horányi PhD defense and satellite workshop – Two days discussing how magmatic (and hydrothermal) processes concentrate metals in the Earth’s crust

To start June with exciting science discussions, ISTO had the chance to host the PhD defense of Bence Horányi, entitled “Experimental constraints on the genesis of lithium-rich granites and pegmatites” on June 1st, followed by a day of presentations by prestigious international members of his jury (K. Goodenoughm BGS; J. Blundy and A.Gion, Oxford; Z. Zajacz, Geneva U.; A. Müller, Natural History Museum Oslo) and researchers of ISTO, BRGM and Université de Lorraine on "Magmas, fluids, and ore deposits".
We warmly congratulate Bence on his successful defense and wish him the best for the coming years. We also thank him, together with postdocs V.Virtanen and C.Haupt, for organizing this great workshop that brought together PhD students, postdocs and senior researchers to discuss the processes controlling Li enrichments in rare metal granites or pegmatites and how melts and fluids may transport and concentrate other critical metals in different environments.
