Can wetting films impact the stability of two-phase flow in porous media?

-We experimentally studied a hydrodynamic instability occurring during drainage in a pore doublet caused by the interactions between viscous and capillary forces.
-Our results contradict the theoretical stability criteria, and we hypothesize that this was caused by wetting films, which are not taken into account in the model.
-We developed a novel pore-doublet model that includes wetting films, and show that it better describes our microfluidic experiments.
