Abstract
In this talk I shall give a brief introduction to the operating principles behind lithium-ion batteries, highlighting some of the challenges associated with producing accurate models for this technology. I will review some of the strategies for dealing with these challenges including multiple scales homogenisation, scientific computing and asymptotic approximation.
