Diffusive fractionation of Li and B isotopes in magma and a potential application to magma degassing
Diffusion of elements in nature is expected to cause isotopic fractionation due to their difference of kinetic energy. Li is perhaps the element that manifest such process the most. This talk presents a recent experiments on the diffusivity contrast of 6-Li and 7-Li as well as 10-B and 11-B. I will also discuss a potential application to magma degassing process. I plan to give a casually structured talk in a short talk format (~20 min), anticipating interaction along the way that may stretch to 40-45 min
